JPO Provided Training Program on Trademark System and Support Measures for SMEs and Startups for Indonesian Government Officials

The Japan Patent Office (JPO), in collaboration with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), provided a training program on the trademark system and support measures for SMEs and startups for Indonesian government officials over a total of four days, from January 26 to 29, 2026.

During the training, representatives from the JPO’s trademark section served as instructors from January 26 to 28, and representatives from the SME and startup support section took over on January 29. A total of 11 participants attended the training from Indonesia; trademark examiners from the Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DGIP) attended the whole program, and staff from the Directorate for Cooperation, Empowerment, and Education and the Secretariat of the DGIP, along with officials from the Ministry of Creative Economy and the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises, joined the training on the final day.

The training featured an active Q&A session, during which participants directed many questions to the instructors.One of the participants commented, "The back-and-forth communication with the instructors enhanced my understanding of operational execution and policy development."

The JPO, in collaboration with JICA, will continue to provide practical support in the area of trademarks to examiners in countries like Indonesia, where further business expansion by Japanese companies is expected. Additionally, by introducing its corporate support measures, the JPO will contribute to the development of the intellectual property environment in these countries.
