Parliamentary Vice-Minister OCHI, Commissioner KASAI and Deputy Commissioner YASUDA Hold Meeting with WIPO Director General Tang

On Thursday, January 29, Mr. OCHI Toshiyuki, Parliamentary Vice-Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, held a meeting with Mr. Daren Tang, Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

During the meeting, Parliamentary Vice-Minister OCHI expressed his appreciation for Director General Tang’s cooperation with the EXPO 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan. They shared their understanding of the need to strengthen cooperation, including by improving the convenience of international application and registration systems in order to promote innovation through intellectual property.

On the same day, Director General Tang met with JPO Commissioner KASAI and JPO Deputy Commissioner YASUDA. During the meeting, they confirmed their continued cooperation regarding WIPO GREEN and support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and start-ups in developing countries within the field of intellectual property through the Funds-In-Trust Japan Industrial Property Global (FIT Japan IP Global). They also confirmed their cooperation to introduce ePCT in the JPO, and exchanged views on future initiatives related to AI.
