The JPO conducted a bilateral meeting with the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS), and adopted a joint statement

On Monday, May 11, 2026, Commissioner KASAI Yasuyuki of the Japan Patent Office (JPO) held a bilateral meeting in Singapore with Mr. Tan Kong Hwee, Chief Executive of the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS).

During the meeting, both offices exchanged views on cooperation in the field of intellectual property.

As part of new initiatives, the two offices agreed to:

• (i) hold regular technical exchanges on the use of AI in patent examination
• (ii) launch a bilateral patent examiner exchange programme

They also adopted a joint statement regarding this agreement.

The Japan Patent Office (JPO) will continue to strengthen its cooperation with IPOS in the field of intellectual property.
