The Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) 20th Anniversary Forum Held

In celebration of the 20th anniversary of the launch of the world’s first Patent Prosecution Highway (PPH) in 2006, the Japan Patent Office (JPO) held the PPH 20th Anniversary Forum on June 12, 2026 in a hybrid format. The forum was a side event of the meeting of the Heads of the IP5 Offices, which consist of the Patent Offices in Japan, Europe, Korea, China, and the United States, and IP5 Industry.

In addition to the IP5 Offices, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), and IP5 Industry, the forum was also attended by the Canadian Intellectual Property Office (CIPO) and the United Kingdom Intellectual Property Office (UKIPO). Under the theme “Tracing the Path and Envisioning the Future of PPH,” presentations and discussions were given by participating offices and organizations. From the JPO, Commissioner Kasai and Deputy Commissioner Yasuda took part in the forum.

Furthermore, the event was streamed online for other intellectual property offices implementing the PPH as well as PPH users.
