User seminar outlining the patent trial and appeal systems (Nihon University)

On December 16, 2016, the user seminar outlining the patent trial and appeal systems was held at the Nihon University. Officials from the Japan Patent Office (JPO), including Mr. Shimano, Director-General of the Trial and Appeal Department of the JPO, participated in the user seminar. A presentation was made on initiatives of the JPO’s Trial/Appeal Department, including circuit trials and on-site interviews, in front of about 130 audiences while a mock oral proceeding was conducted. Furthermore, opinions were exchanged with people working in the field of intellectual property from the Tokyo metropolitan area.

The JPO will continue to make efforts to disseminate and enhance awareness of the trial and appeal system by utilizing various types of user seminars and mock oral proceedings.
