User seminar outlining the patent trial and appeal systems (Osaka Institute of Technology)

On May 31, 2016, the user seminar outlining the patent trial and appeal systems was held at the Osaka Institute of Technology. JPO employees including Mr. Kunihiko Shimano, Director-General of the Trial and Appeal Department of the Japan Patent Office (JPO) participated in the session to explain trial and appeal initiatives including circuit trial examination and interview in the local region to about 200 participants as well as to give an mock oral proceeding. In addition, views and opinions were exchanged between the IP stakeholders in the Kansai region and the JPO. The JPO will strive to continue to disseminate knowledge and raise awareness on the trial and appeal systems as well as to exchange views and opinions with users through various information sessions, mock oral proceeding, etc. in the coming months.
