The JPO conducted the "JPO/IPR Training Course on Patent Examinations (Basic Program)" from June 26 to July 3, 2024. A total of 21 trainee IP officials engaged in patent examination from 15 countries and one organization participated in the course.
The purpose of this course is to enhance the abilities of examiners to carry out prompt and accurate examinations.
In the course, the trainees deepened their knowledge on the subject of Japanese examination practices through lectures on case studies given by a patent examiner in the JPO.
Trainee comments regarding the course include the following:
"I now have a better understanding of the need for relevant laws and regulations to help the development of patents in the country."
"The practical examination lectures were helpful in learning about the trends in patent examination and the requirements that should be noted when reading applicants' claims."
