The JPO conducted the "JPO/IPR Training Course for Practitioners Specializing in Trademarks" in hybrid format, meaning online and by inviting trainees, from July 29 to August 29, 2024. A total of 18 trainees from 11 countries completed the course, which was targeted toward IP lawyers, patent attorneys, and other professionals engaged in trademark practices at companies and universities.

The purpose of this course was to deepen the attendees' understanding of trademark practices and enhance ability as IP experts. The training course included lectures and discussions on the trademark system, application practices of the Madrid Protocol, trademark examination guidelines, and the utilization of trademark information.

Trainee comments regarding the course included the following:

"The instructor provided useful information on Japanese trademark examination standards and practice. The information I gained can be used as a reference to improve my practice and our country's laws."

"It was a useful time because we were able to hear about cases where trademark laws of other countries were applied."
