The JPO conducted the "JPO/IPR Training Course for Practitioners Specializing in Trademarks" from July 25 to December 3, 2025. A total of 20 trainees from 12 countries completed the course, which was targeted toward IP lawyers, patent attorneys, and other professionals engaged in corporate trademark practices.
The purposes of this course were to deepen attendees' understanding of trademark practices, and to enhance their ability as IP experts. The training course included lectures and discussions on the trademark system, application practices of the Madrid Protocol, trademark examination guidelines, and the utilization of trademark information.
Trainee comments regarding the course included the following:
"By learning about Japan’s judicial standards and comparing them with those of other legal systems, I gained valuable insights and a broader perspective on trademark and intellectual property protection."
