JPO Conducts JPO/IPR Training Course for Practitioners Specializing in Patents

The JPO conducted the "JPO/IPR Training Course for Practitioners Specializing in Patents” in hybrid format, meaning both online and in-person, from August 18 to October 2, 2025. A total of 17 trainees from 10 countries completed the course, which was intended for IP lawyers, patent attorneys, and those engaged in patent practices in companies and universities.

The purposes of the course were to deepen attendees’ understanding of patent practices, and to enhance their abilities as experts in IP rights. IP experts in Japan provided lectures on how to write patent specifications, as well as on licensing negotiations, dispute resolution, and utilization of patent information. To create an interactive approach, lectures were delivered in real time online, as well as in person.

Trainee comments regarding the course included the following:

“The curriculum is comprehensive and well-structured, covering both the theoretical foundations and practical aspects of patent practice.”

“The insights gained regarding patent infringement, licensing agreements, and negotiation strategies will help improve my ability to make informed decisions and address related matters.”
