The JPO conducted the “JPO/IPR Training Course on Anti-Counterfeiting Measures for Practitioners” from October 29 to November 6, 2025. A total of 22 trainees from 16 countries completed the course, which was targeted toward officials from IP and Customs offices, as well as from other organizations primarily in charge of conducting anti-counterfeiting operations and cracking down on counterfeit goods.
During the course, trainees learned about anti-counterfeiting practices and cooperation with related organizations in IP enforcement. They also deepened their understanding regarding the initiatives and current status of IP enforcement in Japan through lectures by Tokyo Customs, as well as discussions among instructors and trainees.
Trainee comments regarding the course included the following:
“I gained valuable knowledge about Japan’s strategies, legal frameworks, and international cooperation regarding countermeasures against counterfeit products.”
“By effectively combining theoretical lecture, practical case studies, and on-site visits, I was able to gain a comprehensive understanding of the framework for intellectual property enforcement in Japan.”
