The JPO conducted the "JPO/IPR Training Course on Academia - Industry Collaboration and Technology Transfer" from November 11 - 20, 2025. The course was intended for IP Offices and ministries in charge of technology development, as well as for the staff of universities and research institutes involved in IP management and utilization (including promotion, instruction and support for industry-academia-government collaboration and technology transfer), and corporate personnel who are responsible for IP.
A total of 21 trainees from 16 countries and one organization completed the course, whose purpose was to learn efficient and effective IP management methods in universities and research institutes. Trainees deepened their understanding of related issues through lectures and discussions on IP management, industry-academia-government collaboration, and technology transfer methods toward the private sector.
Trainee comments regarding the course included the following:
"By learning about the practices of universities, technology licensing organizations, companies, and intellectual property evaluation models, I was able to clearly understand how technology transfer and commercialization are actually carried out,"
"I’d like to utilize the frameworks and methodologies I learned to manage intellectual property, streamline technology transfer, and support the commercialization of research outcomes."
