Features of IPPAT

The former name of the Intellectual Property Promotion Association of Thailand (IPPAT) is the Intellectual Property Alumni Association (IPAA), an association of all the alumni who have received training on intellectual property related matter in Japan such as Japan Patent Office (JPO), Japan Institute of Invention and Innovation (JIII), Japan Intellectual Property Association (JIPA), etc. The association was officially founded on 23 July 2001 with initial endowment fund from Prof. Dr. Prasit Prapinmongkolkarn, Mr. Masafumi Iguchi from S&I International Bangkok Office, and Japan Intellectual Property Association (JIPA).

Since the existing board committee viewed that the association chronologically enhanced its distinguished activities under its original objectives, upon approval under the special general meeting the board had amended the articles of association to expand formation of its ordinary membership to any stakeholders in IP fields. To cope with the formation change of membership the current name was also introduced, officially registered and used since May 2007.
