The JPO conducted the “JPO/IPR Training Course on Information Technology” online from September 13 to October 3, 2022. A total of 13 trainees from 8 countries completed the course. This course was intended for individuals who are involved with IT operations at IP offices.
The course aims to enhance specialized expertise that is needed to improve the efficiency of business operations at IP offices by utilizing IT and to manage IP offices based on advancing IT infrastructure. In the training, the trainees learned effective ways for using IP information and the overview of various tools for improving the efficiency of business operations. In addition, they held discussions with each other about issues in developing and improving IT systems for business operations at their respective offices.
For the course, the trainees commented that, “It was a good opportunity to learn about the IT system environment of the JPO, as well as IT system development in various countries and for WIPO products, including the latest IPAS4 development status. I also learned that AI search engines are the current industry focus through information exchanges among the IP offices of participating countries. The training was beneficial in all aspects.” “We are discussing plans to implement the knowledge and expertise acquired through JPO’s training program at our office.”
