JPO Conducted JPO/IPR Training Course for IP Trainers

The JPO conducted the “JPO/IPR Training Course for IP Trainers” in person from November 8 to November 22, 2022. A total of 17 trainees from 14 countries completed the course. This course was intended for government officials and university staffs involved in education on IP systems.

The purpose of this course is to deepen the attendees’ knowledge about methods they can use for educating students on IP, as well as learn about the Japanese systems and experiences with IP issues and foster leaders engaged in IP education. During the course, programs were provided to develop leadership skills from various perspectives such as discussions, plans for developing study guidance, supplementary materials, company tours, and school visits.

Trainee comments regarding the course included the following:

“In my country, few people recognize the importance of intellectual property. In light of this, I believe that conducting IPR Training Courses for students will be a solution to raising social awareness in the long term, which in turn will lead to fostering the IP culture in my country.” “Until now, I did not have an indicator of what level of IP education should be given to students. After attending the lectures during this course, I successfully got a clear image of the IP curriculum that should be provided at each educational level. This Course was very valuable for me to be able to observe situations in which students enjoyed learning without being unnecessarily overloaded with too much work.”
