The JPO conducted the "JPO/IPR Training Course on Trademark Examination under the Madrid System" in person from June 27 to July 4, 2023. A total of 16 trainees from 9 countries participated in the course. This course is mainly intended for officials from IP Offices who are engaged in, or expected to engage in, Madrid Protocol operations in candidate countries of the Madrid System, or member countries of the Madrid System that are in the early stages of the system’s operation.
The purpose of this course is to promote the accession to the Madrid Protocol by learning the outline of the Madrid Protocol system and its practices in Japan. The JPO officials and IP professionals shared their experiences of Japan's accession to Madrid Protocol and gave lectures on the outline of the Madrid Protocol system and practices in Japan.
