JPO Conducted JPO/IPR Training Course on Patent Examination (Basic Program)

The JPO conducted the "JPO/IPR Training Course on Patent Examinations (Basic Program)" from July 6 to July13, 2023. A total of 21 trainee IP officials engaged in patent examination from 12 countries and one organization participated in the course.

The purpose of this course is to enhance the abilities of examiners to carry out prompt and accurate examinations.

In the Course, the trainees deepened their knowledge on the subject of Japanese examination practices through lectures on case studies given by a patent examiner in the JPO.

Trainee comments regarding the course include the following:

"I learned a lot about the classification methods of the IPC and the examination methods used for determining novelty and inventive steps. It was also very interesting to share opinions and viewpoints with other trainees and members of the JPO."

"I learned a lot through this visit to the JPO. It was a good experience for me, and I would like to make good use of it in improving the operations of the IP office in my home country."
