Trilateral Project 24.1-Biotechnology 047

A claim directed to a fused cell can be defined by specifying a combination of any of 1) parent cells, 2) function or properties of the fused cell and 3) methods to produce the fused cell.

However, when fused cells (hybridomas) are characterized by produced monoclonal antibodies, there are only limited number of cells which can be used to produce monoclonal antibodies. Therefore, it is permissible to specify fused cells merely by specifying the monoclonal antibody.
