Trilateral Project 24.1-Biotechnology 134

Although the utility requirement for "a cDNA library originating in an important organ" as a whole is met, the utility requirement for individual "DNA" or "cDNA" is not met.

It is possible to make an inference that the information relating to "a cDNA library originating in an important organ" can be used for research and development of the functions, etc. of the organ, and therefore the utility requirement is met. (However, an invention concerning "the cDNA library originating in an important organ" usually does not have an inventive step.)

It is not possible to make an inference how the individual "DNA" and "cDNA" are industrially applicable when it is only described that the "DNA" or "cDNA" originate in the important organ.
