A claim may not be defined only by the objective to be reached. If such a claim were to be presented, it would be interpreted to cover all means for achieving the objective; it would be a single means claim not commensurate in scope with the enabling disclosure. However, paragraph 6 of 35 U.S.C. Sec.112 permits the recitation of means-plus-function if the claim is directed to a combination of elements.
