The JPO to Host "International Symposium on Patent Examination Practices on AI-related Inventions"

In line with rapid advances taking place in AI technologies, the volume of patent filings on AI-related inventions also is growing rapidly. AI technologies can be used in a wide variety of areas. However, applicants are not sure which points they should focus on in order to acquire patent rights in multiple countries.

Based on these circumstances, the JPO will hold this international symposium, inviting experts from the IP5 offices and others. During the seminar we will hold discussions on how each office determines the patentability of claimed AI-related inventions, which points applicants should pay attention to in order to be granted patent-right protection, and what each office should work on for raising the predictability to users of the patentability of their inventions.

We hope this symposium will be beneficial to users when they seek to obtain patent rights on AI-related inventions globally. We look forward to a successful turnout at this seminar.
