JPO Hosted the 14th IP5 Heads of Office Meeting

On June 23, 2021, the Japan Patent Office (JPO) hosted the IP5 Heads of Office Meeting in the form of a video conference.

At the Meeting chaired by Mr. KASUTANI Toshihide, Commissioner of the JPO, the heads of the IP5 Offices reached agreement on some initiatives such as the roadmap for IP5 cooperation in the fields of New Emerging Technologies/Artificial Intelligence (NET/AI). Also, the heads agreed to launching new projects designed to harmonize patent operating procedures. In addition, the heads discussed future cooperation among the IP5 Offices in the post-pandemic era and the role that intellectual property rights will play in solving social issues such as the SDGs.
