The Global Patent Academy (GPA) of the Japan Patent Office (JPO), in association with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) provided the patent examination training program to the Directorate General of Intellectual Property (DGIP) in Indonesia online on January 11-14,18-21,25-28 and February 2,4,8-9,15, 2022.
The training program focused on (1) AI-related technologies, (2) Mechanical technologies, (3) Markush claims and (4) PCT international work products. In addition to a lecture on cutting-edge AI technologies by a Japanese AI researcher, the GPA instructors and the JICA expert gave lectures on examination practices on the above topics. About 40 patent examiners from DGIP participated and deepened their understanding of examination practices through the live streaming lectures and discussions online.
The JPO, in association with the JICA, continues to provide trainings on the patent examination practices to examiners in Indonesia and other emerging countries. Through such efforts, examination systems in each country will be fully developed and strengthened.
