The Global Patent Academy (GPA) of the Japan Patent Office (JPO) provided the “Training on Substantive Examination in the Field of Agricultural Biotechnology” to the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) online on March 7,9,11,15 and 17, 2022.

Mr. Rowel S. Barba, Director General of the IPOPHL said in his opening remarks, "As the global market for agricultural biotechnology expands, we expect to see an increase in patent applications in this field. We appreciate JPO's support in sharing its expertise of examination practice in this important field. We look forward to having more trainings in the months and years ahead”.

The JPO continues to provide trainings on the patent examination practices to examiners in Philippines and other emerging countries. Through such efforts, examination systems in each country will be fully developed and strengthened.
