JPO and ASEAN IP Academy Collaboration to Provide On-Line Train the Trainers Program

November 15, 2022

The Japan Patent Office (JPO), in collaboration with the ASEAN IP Academy (ASEAN IPA)*1 provided a two-day online Train the Trainers Program for patent examination managers and trainers on 25-26 October 2022.

Two instructors from the JPO with extensive management and practical experience in patent examination provided the training programs to 25 participants from ASEAN countries. The training focused on four points such as patent examination practices, quality management, human resource development and outsourcing of searches.

This training allowed participation of representatives and IP users from corporate IP relevant sections in addition to staff members from ASEAN IP offices. Thus, out of 25 participants, 12 are corporate IP users.

The JPO will continuously provide cooperation for trainings on the patent examination practices and management through its international training instructors of the Global Patent Academy (GPA) to the IP-related parties in the ASEAN IPA and other countries where Japan’s companies are expected to develop their businesses. Leveraging those opportunities, the JPO will support enhancement of their patent examination systems.
