JPO and IP Offices in ASEAN

Japan-ASEAN Heads of Intellectual Property Offices Meeting

The Japan Patent Office (JPO) and ASEAN Intellectual Property Offices (IPOs) have strengthened their cooperation for the appropriate protection of intellectual property (IP).

The Japan-ASEAN Heads of IPOs Meetings are held every year since 2012. The JPO and the ASEAN IPOs have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) in the 2nd Meeting, and have reviewed cooperative initiatives through the formulation of the ASEAN IPOs -JPO IPR Action Plan for each fiscal year in the following Meetings.

Japan-ASEAN Patent Experts Meeting

The JPO and the ASEAN IPOs agreed on the inauguration of a Japan-ASEAN Patent Experts Meeting at the tenth Japan-ASEAN Heads of IPOs Meeting held in July 2020. The Japan-ASEAN Patent Experts Meeting has been held to deepen mutual understanding of patent examination practices since 2020.
